TEMECULA (CBSLA.com) — More than 200 firefighters battled a 30-acre brush fire today in Temecula.
Crews started fighting the blaze shortly before noon off the shoulder of southbound Interstate 15 just south of Temecula Parkway, fire officials said.
The fire was originally reported at 15 acres, but it quickly spread. The fire was 10-percent contained at 2 p.m.
The blaze was near a fire in Pala that ravaged more than 40 acres this week, which fire crews have been battling since Monday.
Traffic in the area was snarled.
The California Highway Patrol closed the southbound I-15 near the scene, but the northbound side remained open with heavy traffic. Surface streets near the fire were congested and the CHP warned drivers to expect delays on southbound I-15 south of where it meets with Interstate 215, according to the Press-Enterprise.
